If you’re looking for a real selection of environmentally-friendly counter surfaces, be sure to check out the Construction Resources Slab Gallery in Decatur, Georgia. The gallery is over 20,000 square feet, the largest in Georgia, and has a huge selection of green building products like Cambria and Vetrazzo counter tops.

Cambria is made with a high efficiency system that maintains and reuses water during manufacturing and fabrication to make it one of the most environmentally-friendly surfaces on the market. On top of that, it is the only domestic quartz option, so you know your money isn’t going into transporting the surface across oceans. Cambria also has a number of certifications, including GREENGARD for indoor air quality, grants LEED points to projects, and is National Sanitation Foundation certified as a food preparation surface.

For a counter option that stands out resplendently and is environmentally friendly, look no further than Vetrazzo recycled glass counter tops. Fit a Home Steam Shower Into Your Life and Home

The American home is changing. From the living room to the home office, families everywhere are trading tradition for convenience. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, homeowners are renovating their bathrooms away from soaker tubs and whirlpool baths to home steam showers.

The shift to steam also reflects a desire to invest in wellness, such as softer, more supple skin, breathing enhancement, and an overall improved sense of tranquility.

Steam showers are also a greener option, consuming just two gallons of water for a 20 minute session, vs. 75 gallons to fill a typical whirlpool-type tub.

Home steam showers from Mr. Steam are simple to install and fit easily into your next bathroom remodeling project,” said Martha Orellana, Mr. Steam vice president. “Our generators are about the size of a briefcase, and can be placed inside a cabinet or closet up to 60 feet from your shower enclosure.”

The Wall Street Journal article mentions that homeowners are trying to avoid spending dollars on spaces that are only used on special occasions. Luckily, home steam showers from Mr. Steam are simple to operate and even easier to maintain, using the exclusive AutoFlush no-hands activation after every session. And with spa packages that add aromatherapy, chromatherapy and music therapy to your experience, you can literally enjoy spa time any time at home.

Selecting the Proper Steam Shower Generator Has Steamy Benefits

If you’re currently remodeling your bathroom, then you understand the importance of getting things “just right.” After all, these projects aren’t daily occurrences and need to be handled properly. For homeowners adding a steam shower generator to their current bathroom remodeling project, the same rules apply. Knowing how to select the proper generator for your bathroom is vital to enjoying the full steam experience from Mr. Steam.

In order to choose a steam shower generator for your bathroom, work with your designer or contractor to determine the building materials and dimensions of your shower enclosure. Shower enclosures constructed from non-porous materials such as ceramic or porcelain tiling usually require the use of a smaller generator.

Knowing the dimensions and materials of your shower enclosure will help your bathroom remodeling professional select the generator that’s the perfect size for your bathroom: not too big and not too small.

In order to help bathroom remodeling professionals make the right decisions, Mr. Steam has a free steam shower sizing app for the iPhone, iPad or web browser. Simply have your designer or contractor enter the bathroom dimensions and materials, as well as style and finish options, and the app will display the steam shower generator that is right for your home. The app also provides the suggested list price of the unit. All of this information can be emailed to you or your professional for easy reference.

To learn more about how to add steam to your life, visit the Mr. Steam website.

Sterling Custom Homes helping make wishes with $2,500 donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and South Texas

For Sterling Custom Homes’ employees, being supported by management means more than just being able to take time off or receiving appropriate health or dental benefits; it’s also about being supported in the employee’s efforts to make an impact in the community. This was recently demonstrated when the Austin home builder made a $2,500 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and South Texas, a nonprofit that grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. The $2,500 was a matching donation by one of the company’s employees, Gary Grambley, the company’s Sales and Marketing Director.

Gary is training for November’s Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon and when he approached Duke McDowell, Sterling Custom Homes’ President, about the Austin luxury real estate company supporting his efforts, Gary was pleasantly surprised to learn that the company would be more than willing to support him.

Gary initially asked for $1,000 to help jumpstart his fundraising efforts and was instead told that the company would match the first $2,500 that he was able to raise. Since then, Gary hasn’t had much trouble convincing his friends and associates to join in on the giving and help him reach his goal.

After learning of Sterling’s willingness to match their donations, people were eager to help. To date, Gary has raised $5,740 and will continue fundraising until the Marathon this November.

Light Up Atlanta Receives Inspiration from Atlanta Kitchen

Earlier this summer, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority riders got to experience art made of DuPont Corian throughout several of the Atlanta train stations.

These Light Up Atlanta installations were fabricated and installed by Atlanta Kitchen and C.H. Briggs. Among them was the Seed Bench at Peachtree Center, designed by Kellen Minor.

“Corian is often thought of as simply a countertop surface,” said Mitch Hires, co-owner of Construction Resources. “The Light Up Atlanta installations show the true versatility of Corian as well as the talent of the Atlanta design community.”

The Light Up Atlanta project was commissioned by C.H. Briggs. Atlanta artists were asked to utilize Corian and concept a design revealing what Atlanta means to them. Minor created the Seed Bench through his experiences moving to the city as a young creative. He likens it to the germination of a seed. Blue and white LED lights were used to simulate roots and leaves, which are a metaphor for growth and opportunity.

Atlanta Kitchen received sheets of DuPont Corian and set to work fabricating the material according to Minor's design. Corian is a durable and flexible solid surface material that is suitable for many design applications.

Help Sterling Custom Homes and Gary Make a Wish Come True

Sterling Custom Homes’ sales director Gary Grambley is committed to making a difference in the Austin community as well as the lives of children suffering from life-threatening diseases.

Grambley has been fundraising for his upcoming participation in the San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, and one of the area’s top Austin home builders, Sterling Custom Homes, has pledged to match his fundraising efforts up to $2,500!

Earlier this year, Sterling Custom Homes donated $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and South Texas for every new Facebook “Like” the builder received on its fan page (http://www.facebook.com/sterlingcustomhomes), up to 300 total fans.

Grambley aims to raise $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and South Texas. Sterling Enhances Driveway Application

Always thinking of ways to improve its home building process and please buyers, Sterling Custom Homes is improving its rap-“pour”-t again! This Austin home builder has come up with a new application that gives driveways of their luxury Austin homes a unified finishing touch.

“So many times it doesn’t cost any more to implement a change like the driveway/garage apron improvement,” said Vick Pope, vice president of construction at Sterling Custom Homes. “It only requires the desire to constantly improve, and the mindset that never accepts things as the way they’ve always been done.”

In standard methods other builders use, driveway material is poured up to the exterior of the garage apron, leaving an exposed meeting place between the home’s driveway and foundation. The driveway and foundation are often two different materials or finishes, and this discontinuity can be seen by residents and visitors alike.

However, Sterling Custom Homes has bettered this process, and buyers can now have a seamless flow from the driveway to the foundation of their Austin luxury real estate. The new process involves Sterling dropping the foundation at the garage’s apron, which allows the driveway to end at the point where the garage door meets the concrete. This simple process provides a seamless flow from the driveway to the garage with a professionally finished look.

Sterling Custom Homes demonstrates this dedication to detail in other aspects of their home building as well. For more information, visit the Sterling Custom Homes website today.
